Musicians, filmmakers, videographers and zunecasters will have the chance to produce and market their content over the wifi enable Zune player and broadcast a free sample for limited use. If the person likes the content they can purchase it from the Zune MarketPlace.
User-generated content sales
Microsoft has developed a new Digital Rights Management system that will facilitate user-generated content sales. ZuneMAX.com predicts Zune artists will be able to create, produce and market their own music and video content under Zune DRM licensing agreements on future Zune players. The much talked about WiFi sharing feature will allow artists to sell their content direct to consumers after sharing the song or video clip under preview for a limited time. The DRM technology will be used for game development on the Xbox platform in the Microsoft XNA Game Studio Professional edition and is scheduled for integration with Zune.
