Just another Cyber Monday for Zune MAX
Yesterday was Cyber Monday and all things seem to point to it being a great day for online retailers. Black Friday had some decent numbers but the fear is that we are having a front heavy sales season and everyone is grabbing the early deals now with a slow down in sales as Christmas approaches. In strong economic times there is often a rush and increase leading up to the very day before but even crazy things like a stampede at WalMart don’t show the economy facing a rebound in retail.
if anything the fact a Walmart employee was trampled to death, by shoppers looking for the best deals on Zune we hope, it doe not seem like it will be a good season for 1000’s of retailers in America. The Christmas shopping season is often the kickstart of the sales season for many retailers and many count on strong Holiday sales to make it by each year. This weak economy will most likely lead to an increased number of retail failures and I doubt there will be a bailout for that as well.
Online traffic was up with a 200% increase for ZuneMAX and the traffic report for major retailers from ZDNEt shows huge growth as well. Hopefully the traffic spikes will lead to sales and a boost for the economy. It seems much of this has to do with attitude and our perceptions of the market. A strong Holiday may help in more ways than one but only time will tell. We sold an average number of Zune players and accessories so far this year with no major change in our sales over last year. That could be attributed both to flat sales for Zune as well as a decrease in the traffic this site has been receiving.
