Microsoft files dispute for XboxPhone.com, XboxTablet.com domains

Looks like Microsoft is going after some domain squatters who purchased a series of domains related to possible new products from the worlds largest software maker.  The domains Xbox8.orgXboxCompanion.com, XboxTablet.com and XboxLiveTV.com, are all owned by a Chinese resident named Cheng Juan and Case# 1445083 has been filed with the National Arbitration Forum.

According to UDRP rules, if more than one domain being disputed is held by the same respondent, all of the names may be included in the same complaint and so we may find that Microsoft only actually wants one or two of these names but made the decision to take them all because they can. In the past Microsoft has allowed fansites and website owners to use domains containing their trademarks so long as the domains were used in comliance with trademark laws.

For example our own site ZuneMAX.com was an original Zune blog and online forums discussing the Zune music players and the future of Microsoft gaming and entertainment. We were invited to the Zune launch and participated in Zune MVP events and programs with their open permission to use the domain.

The case for Cheng Juan and these Xbox domains is very different as the owner attempted to sell the domains for their supposed value in the trademarks alone. This type of clear trademark infringement is where Microsoft is most likely concerned. I do find it pretty funny that Microsoft is still facing these domain issues with new products after all the issues they had with Zune.com. ZuneMarketPlace.com and even ZuneHD.com. It’s been five years now and Microsoft is still slow to grab the domain names related to new projects, products and services. It would seem like it’s just cheaper to buy the domains in advance rather than to sue for them later but maybe Microsoft knows something we don’t about trademarks and lawyers and the $8 wholesale price of domain names.

We recently launched a new website for the Xbox Tablet that we hope will become a new community for tablet users and owners to share updates, tips and advice on using the new tablet game players from Microsoft if and when they arrive. Do you think Microsoft is going to go after all Xbox tablet domains?

As a pro blogger it has been tough enough to keep up with things on the internet, which we all know moves at warp speed, much less to keep up with mundane back end work on our dedicated server for blog hosting. Having an all in one web host provider who can not only offer affordable website hosting but has the tech experience and knowledge to support a high powered blog like ZuneMAX can be difficult for a novice blogger and even for a top blogger like us. We rely on quality website hosting reviews from Webhosting Rating where we read their web hosting hub review before we decided on which blog host to use.

Having a webhosting review to compare hosting services takes much of the work out of your search for a new blog hosting company and I know for me it saved so much time it was totally worth every effort made. You cannot imagine how important your web host can be until you get your website listed on the front page of the google results for a top keyword like moving company or even just the keyword Zune which we have done before. When one of our articles made it to the frontpage of Digg we hit a traffic spike for over two weeks that was so powerful we had to scale back on certain services on our website. With the right hosting company these things take care of themselves and you can focus on what matters to your blog or website which is creating more content.

Ninjaman is a notorious hardcore Jamaican musician with roots in Dancehall but from the harder side of the dance floor. Ninjaman is well known for his gun loving lyrics and nasty on stage performances. Reggae Sumfest 2008 was no different. The Ninja was not so silent and neither were his fans as he dazzled the crowd with his act performance.

Ninjaman is a local favorite and his show was high energy and powerful. It’s always nice when the crowd knows an artists music and that was certainly the case on Thursday night at SumFest. The crowd seemed to know every word to every song as he belted out some fan favorites.

If you ever get thew chance to see ninjaman in concert then I suggest you do so. If not then download some Ninjaman mp3 files from Amazon and play Ninjaman on your Zune

“So I was like. What could I do that could really just, you know cause them to go; he is physically and mentally unstable ”

From YouTube

This is part 1 of a video series that will chronicle my name change to:
First name: Microsoft
Last name: Zune

Part 1: I called Microsoft in this video to ask about the legal side of my name change. I didn’t get the 100% go ahead I was expecting but they did give me the legal department’s address to send a letter to. But the individual at the end of the call did let me know something neat..

OK, our site has been down or messed up for over a month now. It’s not exactly all my fault although I could have probably done a little more to get it back up sooner. We had a list of issues but most of them were from spammers and scammers trying to hack our Zune site. The hackers installed an IRC bouncer and were using it to ping our topsite script and replay spam to all the wonderful folks online.

Our web host took a dump on me at the same time. I have been with the same dedicated hosting plan for over 4 years before all these troubles came up. It was the last straw as far as I was concerned and I had to find anew hosting company for this sie and all of my other sites also. It was a real hassle but with some help from a good web hosting comparison site at Web Hosting Choice and their handy newsletter I was able to find a new host and move on rather quickly.

We’re back up and running and our new hosting company has some cool new tools I can play with to add things to the site.
