So for those of you asking about iPad support on Xbox the day has finally come. The most recent update for Microsoft Xbox has Ipad tablet support for Xbox 360 and it’s a surprisingly nice addition to the worlds most popular game console.
We assume this is one step closer to full Xbox tablet support with a new Microsoft Surface tablet on the Xbox gaame console.
My Xbox Live Update Adds Xbox 360 Control To Your iPad
Earlier this year at E3 2012, Microsoft showed off their upcoming SmartGlass technology. Today iPad owners are getting their first taste of things to come as the My Xbox Live app has just received an update to version 1.6, allowing gamers to control their Xbox 360 console with nothing but an iPad. First things first, if you have not downloaded the My Xbox Live app you’ll want to head to the App Store and get it. For those of you already have it, all you need to do is download the update. Microsoft has made it very easy to set up the new companion features. First you’ll head to your system settings, then scroll down and set the Xbox Companion option to “Available.” From there you just open the app, head to the Quickplay tab and select “Connect to Xbox.” You’ll receive a notification on your TV screen that you’ve connected a companion device and you’re good to go.

Microsoft is said to be developing a cross-platform streaming game service that has been code named, “Xbox Smart Glass” and will be released as Xbox Live Companion. The streaming game console will allow for portable game access on a range of devices including Windows Phones, iOS and Android phones.
Xbox Smart Glass comes on the heels of the recent announcements related to Xbox Glasses and the Helmet as well as the rumors of the next generation Xbox coming with with a tablet controller like the new wii. An Xbox Tablet would make sense since Microsoft rarely innovates and most often mimics the best ideas in the market.
Smart Glass will these features:
- Will allow users to control their Xbox 360 remotely.
- Will be available cross platform on multiple operating systems including Windows, Windows Phone, Android and iOS. (Not Blackberry)
- Applications will be accessible through the Xbox Tablet. Such as Youtube/Netflix/Vemo ect.
- Live streaming ability through the tablet to the TV, desktop, lap top and other devices.
- A demo at E3 will be shown, but no live video will be featured
Looks like the economy is taking ahit in places outside America and even the Chinese are facing cutbacks. The Foxconn Xbox 36 factory in China recently had to deal with the threat of suicide by dozens of factory workers who were told the factory was closoing. Apparently the wokers were distraught over broken promises regarding their work contract and they REALLY needed those jobs.
Do you think that workers should be able to dicate company policy with threats of suicide?
According to reports, dozens of workers at a Chinese factory that assembles Xbox 360 consoles threatened to jump off a dormitory roof. The rooftop protest began on Jan 2, following plans to close the Xbox assembly line, with workers saying that Foxconn reneged on a promise to compensate anyone wanting to leave.
Are you running the new Xbox Companion App for Windows Phone 7.5? Microsoft has finally announced a new app for Windows Mobile Phones that integrates your Xbox controls to your mobile phone. You can now use your Windows Mobile device to stream content from Xbox and Zune Pass to your mobile phone and have your music collection follow youi from the house to anywhere you travel with your mobile phone.
The convergence of Xbox, Zune Pass and the Windows Phone 7.5 has been a long time coming and I know I for one have been waiting to have my proverbial cake and eat it too. Sadly the Windows Phone Series has been an also ran in the mobile platform but maybe this new level of added enhancement and interaction with the Xbox makes the platform more viable.
Do you have your Mobile device and Xbox synced with the Xbox companion app?
Microsoft this week released its Xbox Companion App for Windows Phone 7.5, which can be used as a remote control for your Xbox 360-based entertainment, and as a mobile hub for discovering more about all of the content that can flow through this console, including games, TV shows and movies, and music.
As Microsoft works to consolidate their services it is becoming apparent that things entertainment will most likely center around Xbox.com with Games for Windows and Zune Pass music services all incorporated into their popular gaming platform. It really is the best move for Microsoft to have all the services available in one centralized shop and the Xbox brand is the strongest of them all so it was an obvious choice as well for content delivery considering it’s roll as trojan horse in your living room.
There’s a good chance that Microsoft plans to incorporate the Games for Windows Marketplace and the Windows Phone 7 Apps / Zune Marketplace online shops into Xbox.com so that end-users will have a one-stop shopping experience. This should also help sell cross-platform games that allow Microsoft customers to play each other via an Xbox 360 console, a Windows Phone 7 device and a Windows 7 PC. That said, the future of the PC client is uncertain save for the mini-client that’s needed for multiplayer and in-game micro-transactions within Games for Windows titles.
Microsoft may have a hit on their hands with the Kinect game controller after posting sales results of 1 million units for the first 10 days available. it seems they are well on their way to meeting sales forecasts of 5 million units sold before the years end and Kinect may be the hot item for Xbox fans.
A million units in 10 days is a huge start for Kinect and there may be some strength to the claims made about the Kinect being the next generation game controller or should we call it the non controller due to the hands free game play the Kinect camera. A million units this early into the pre holiday season looks great for Microsoft when you consider other hot releases available right now. The latest Call of Duty Black Ops had a 360 million dollar day on it’s release as was expected with much of that on the Xbox 360 according to Amazon.
Those are some powerful numbers for Microsoft and Xbox to be pulling down in the pre holiday shopping season and if they can keep going strong it should be banner year for Xbox. Microsoft may have the right mix of hits and accessories to increase it’s lead over competing consoles and pull ahead of the pack with Xbox 360 as a home entertainment platform. Anyone of you a Kinect user?
Microsoft’s motion sensing controller, the Kinect, has managed to hit the an amazing milestone by selling one million units in only 10 days — “a great start to the holiday season,” said Don Mattrick, President of Interactive Entertainment Business.
Microsoft Kinect for Xbox 360: One Million Units Sold in 10 DaysDeveloped specifically for the Xbox 360, Microsoft Kinect has been released into the North American market on November 4. Europe followed shortly, a week after on November 10, and Asia, New Zealand and Australia are getting it this week on November 18.
