Concerts

I went to a nice show this weekend and to be truthful although the music was great the production was horrible and things got out of control to the point I may not attend another event in this venue until they mjake some changes.

The crowd control was a joke and there were at least 4 fights that broke out very near to us that got out of control even further.

At one point I felt a little scared but the security team seemed to step up after some complaints from the crowd. It seems that some of these concerts are trying to save some cash on security and cutting back on things that can lead to real safety issues.

Have you had something similar happen recently?

Concert Tickets

We are deep into Spring and Summer is almost here and the concerts and sports events are getting cranked up. I went online to check out the going rate on tickets for concerts and found some great deals on crap bands. The selection of sporting events was good with lots of football deals available,. I can save big on New York Jets Tickets by shopping online and buying early. I am not a big Jets fan but traveling to a big game carries enough excitement on it’s own.

They also had some good prices on San Diego Chargers Tickets which would be nice if I travel to California as expected. I would also like the opportunity to see a good football game on the West Coast and what better way than with cheap tickets.

If I don’t want to see a football game there is a chance I might want to go to a good concert or music show. I’m not a huge fan of boy bands but the wife sure wants me to buy Backstreet Boy Tickets so we can catch a wiff of her childhood dreams. I myself would rather check out something different and I might just buy us some Rascal Flatts Tickets but I would probably have to make a concession and buy her Celine Dion Tickets which is unthinkable to be honest. I guess I’ll have to think about things a bit more because the choices and sacrifices I might have to make are going to be tough.

Times are tough but music fans just can’t skip the chance to see a good concert or music festival. Ticket sales at major shows are keeping many stars busy. Country music sensation Taylor Swift is doing shows across America and Taylor Swift tickets for sale online make a great holiday gift for anyone on your shopping list.

The cool thing with websites like ACheapSeat.com is that no matter where you live they have shows in your area. As an exasmple you can ask for shows in New York City and come up with the Richard Rodgers Theatre which is located on 226 W 46th Street in New York City between Broadway & 8th Avenue. If you live in New York you can get a great deal on Richard Rodgers Theatre tickets for upcoming shows for you to enjoy or maybe you want to take a friend or loved one to enjoy the show with you.

You may have heard that Bon Jovi has shows and if you live in Dallas Texas you can catch American Airline Theater tickets and catch the 80′s rocker and band performing on Saturday, April 10, 2010. If that’s to far out for you then you can search Concert Tickets and more with their easy to use website and tickets search features.

Green Day tickets

Green Day tickets are available and if I could make it to the concert I would probably buy the tickets right now. They have a performance at Hallenstadion in Zurich Switzerland which will probably be an experience to see and I would enjoy. I dig huge music festivals and tickets for concerts are easy to be had for many of these events.

I’m not really a huge Green Day fan although I appreciate their music and I have been a fan since the early days of Dookie and Brain Stew. I would however very much like to see them live in concert. I just think they would be a great band to see live and most likely a much better show than say Bon Jovi. I mean I dig the 80′s as much as anyone but I think Green Day would rock your ass and Bon Jovi tickets are probably being sold to older people who may enjoy a show but there won’t be the same energy as a Green Day concert I bet.

Aboriginal

Aboriginal

MP3: Aboriginal — Love Hate City

With influences ranging from Led Zeppelin to the Beastie Boys, it’s hard to put a label on Aboriginal.

“We don’t follow trends,” said Helms De Armas, drummer for the five-member band. “We’re making our own sound. It’s honest. There’s no mask.”

The Kendall-based group has been honing its sound for seven years. De Armas, who goes by the stage name Helms1, describes Aboriginal’s music as “urban experimental.”

Other members, and their stage names, are: guitarist Andres Morales (Mono), vocalist Miguel Kitrell (Discrete), bassist Rodolfo Keyloun (Habbibi) and Gianni Perocarpi (DJ Geography) on percussion and keyboards.

“We fuse hip-hop vocals with live instrumentals,” De Armas said. “There’s rock. There’s jazz. There’s Latin. There are so many different styles that we use. You can’t sum it up in one description.”

Whatever it is, Aboriginal intends to reach more listeners with plans to release its first CD this summer. The disc’s title, 4.656%, uses the address of their Miami recording studio.

“As a joke, we added the decimal point and a percentage sign,” De Armas said.

One of the tracks on the debut, Love/Hate City, is dedicated to Miami.

“It’s about what people perceive Miami to be and what Miami really means to us,” De Armas said. “It’s where we grew up and how we’re a bunch of musicians trying to make it in a city saturated with glamour and glitz. It’s kind of hard.”

Love/Hate City is on a three-song sampler CD the band gives away to fans at concerts.

“We’re pretty known for our live shows,” De Armas said. “I don’t think there’s a venue in Miami that we haven’t played.”

Aboriginal has ventured into Broward County, too. Past dates include Young Circle Park in downtown Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale’s Poor House.

Humbert

Humbert

MP3: Humbert — The Ladybug and The Beetle

The guys from Humbert are returning to the streets of downtown West Palm Beach.

The Hialeah-based band will be one of several groups playing Saturday night at the free MoonFest that stretches along Clematis Street.

Humbert was last on the festival’s bill in 2004. Bassist Tony Landa remembers the evening as a crazy street party.

The quartet includes Ferny Coipel on keyboards and guitar, drummer Cesar Lavin and guitarist Rimsky Pons. This time around, Humbert is coming to the Halloween music fest on the heels of several career developments.

The band landed two springtime gigs at CBGB in New York and the South by Southwest music confab in Austin, Texas. The concerts coincided with the release of a six-song EP, Floating Legion of Joy. The album was pressed in March to promote Humbert’s appearance at South by Southwest, Landa said.

Not bad for a band named after one of literature’s more tragic characters, Humbert Humbert from Lolita.

What really matters is that audiences are connecting with Humbert’s music, which Landa described as indie power pop.

The MoonFest party is from 6 p.m.-1 a.m. along the 300 to 500 blocks of Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach. Contact moonfest.org or 561-667-1030.

Big Bang Radio

Big Bang Radio

MP3: Big Bang Radio — I Can’t Make U

Big Bang Radio has big plans for its big, power-rock sound. Making the finals of the Bodog Music Battle of the Bands is part of the group’s bid to put themselves on the national map.

The five members from West Palm Beach will be representing Miami against bands from 16 other cities. At stake is a $1 million recording contract on Bodog Music’s indie label. A date for the finals, along with a broadcast on Fuse, will be announced soon.

Flying out to Los Angeles for the battle is the latest in a line of accomplishments. In the two years that Big Bang Radio have been playing together, they’ve already opened for major recording acts such as Ashlee Simpson and the Strokes. This fall, they shared the bill with artists such as Duran Duran, Gnarls Barkley and Modest Mouse at the Bang Festival in downtown Miami.

Those performances, along with concerts at local clubs, have helped Big Bang Radio build a following for their sound, which manager Jesse Stoll describes as “Lenny Kravitz meets Aerosmith meets U2.”

Lead singer Del, lead guitarist Alex Zapatier, keyboardist Ron Anthony, bassist Mike B and drummer Ian Jones put out their first seven-song EP this past year. It’s available through myspace.com/bbrmusic and bbrmusic.com. A full-length CD is in the works, Stoll said.

Big Bang Radio’s next gig is at 9 p.m. Dec. 30 at Mr. G’s, 2650 S. Military Trail, West Palm Beach. Call 561-434-9917.

MediaPost Publications – Microsoft Extending Marketing To Concerts, Social Events – 03/09/2007

MICROSOFT’S ZUNE HARD DRIVE DIGITAL music player has retained its No. 2 market share position in the post-holiday sales period, according to research firm NPD Group, with a 9.9% share.

Maintaining this toehold in the market hasn’t been a steady course. Zune has suffered considerable backlash from dissatisfied consumers reporting technological glitches such as cracked LCD screens, apparently the result of battery pressure as well as direct impact. Some tech bloggers have reported sending their Zunes back to Microsoft for repairs only to have the screens crack again within weeks.

But that problem pales in scale to the “skipping” issue reported in playback of songs downloaded from the Zune Marketplace that has become so widespread that Microsoft will release yet another update to address it in mid-March–Zune Firmware Update 1.3. Apparently, the previous one didn’t do the trick. Despite the playback issue, Microsoft reported that the active subscriber base of Zune Marketplace grew by 60% in January, and individual track downloads are up by 65%.

Yet none of these issues is earth-shattering, especially not for a first-generation product. Microsoft certainly isn’t daunted, saying that it’s committed to expanding the Zune offering and is sticking to its predictions of selling 1 million devices by June.

Rumor has it the next-generation Zune will appear in August, but in the meantime, Microsoft is showing its commitment to Zune by expanding on its $100 million marketing efforts via concerts and social events. Messages are based on the idea of “the social,” which highlights the social networking capability enabled by Zune’s wireless technology.

The big focus is on discovering new music and the support of emerging artists, from the promotion of critically acclaimed acts at small clubs to a high-profile presence at music industry events like SXSW, which starts today in Austin, Texas.
