Say the name Mavado or start up one of his infamous songs anywhere in Jamaica and it is sure to kick up more noise than the stereo can blast. He is one of Jamaica’s most infamous dancehall artistes with a cult following on the island that has divided a nation between two warring camps due to the ongoing battle between him and his nemesis in the Portmore Empire one Mr Vybz Kartel.
Mavado is a member of the Bounty Killer Alliance and “The Warlord” has had his fight with Vybz who was a beat maker for Killa over a number of hit songs. Mavado has been crowned the new King of Dancehall by some and the self proclaimed King himself Beenie Man has weighed in to say that his status as number one seller from the 90’s until recent years keeps him as the top man to beat still.
The battle should hit it’speak this at Reggae SumFest this year where all parties involved are scheduled to appear on stage on the same day.
