MP3: Two Story Double Wide — Flirtin’ With the Devil

Take five guys whose list of high-cholesterol influences include barbecue ribs and Velveeta cheese, give them instruments and it should be no surprise that they refer to their music as “country fried punk rock.”

After three years of bringing foot-stomping, beer-swilling tunes to audiences throughout South Florida, so say the members of Two Story Double Wide (2SDW). The band from Delray Beach is on the cusp of releasing its first, full-length CD, Loudmouth Soup.

The disc features Mark “Iggy” DiLeonardo on mandolin and harmonica; Matthew T. Edrington on lead vocals and acoustic guitar; lead guitarist Chavo; bassist Jason “Cheese” Cusell; and drummer Otis Possum.

DiLeonardo said the project is finished and should be ready for its official release by the end of the year. He described the songs on Loudmouth Soup as a cutting-edge combination of country, metal and punk.

“Some call it punkabilly,” he said.

Advance copies of the new CD will be available at 2SDW’s gig at the City Link Music Fest in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Folks can catch them performing such numbers as White Trash and Mohawk outdoors at the free show, around 11 p.m. on a stage in front of the nightclub Revolution, 100 SW Third Ave.

Contact 954-727-0950 or myspace.com/2sdw.

Your band have a club date coming up? Send a high-rez jpeg, MP3 file and band info, along with club details, at least two weeks in advance, to BETH1FL@aol.com.

Zune Musicians - 3 feet up

March 28th, 2007 by admin

Webpage: http://www.3feetup.com
Location: gibsonville, nc, usa
Description: We sound like Sting & Dave Matthews hosting karaoke night at a monestary.
Biography: 3 Feet Up was born on June 10th, 2001 when Chris and Victoria said “I Do”, although at the time, neither one had any idea that they would some day play music together. They experienced many challenges along their journey and began to seek the deeper meanings behind everyday things: God, life, death, religion, faith, intention, money, hope and reality. They decided that playing music was a wonderful way to share what they have learned. Musically, they fit somewhere between the likes of Sting, Steely Dan, Dave Matthews and Jack Johnson.

Chris writes the songs, plays the acoustic guitar, bass guitar and vocalizes. He says that his old songs were mainly about his own frustrations and who wants to hear that? Formerly the bassist and leader of the band “Nervous Boy”, Chris played his “Foo Fighters-meets-Primus” songs all over the southeast. His newer songs, written specifically for 3 feet up, are more positive and kinda 50’s “bowling shirt” lounge music inspired. Victoria started learning how to play drums just 60 days before their first show! Since then she has learned how to sit on a groove and play just what the song needs.

Live, they seem to not lack anything (even though they have no bass player) and are quite symmetrical onstage with Victoria’s standup drumkit right up front next to Chris.

The two cite influences as diverse as Dave Brubeck, Dave Matthews, Robyn Hitchcock, Foo Fighters, John Mayer, Sting, Steely Dan and way more.

Recently, they’ve been featured on the CBS Early Show’s “Living Room Live” series and since the release of their debut CD “Tank Full Of Gas And An Empty Cup”, they have turned into gig machines, relentlessly playing all over the place and their territory is expanding even now…

Zune MP3 Download - Budda Holly

MP3: Budda Holly — Never Let You Go

“Somewhere between a dead rock star and a nugget of nirvana” is how Timothy DeMattio describes his stage persona — Budda Holly.

Miami native DeMattio adopted the unusual moniker while living in Savannah, Ga. Now he’s back home and hitting stages around South Florida with original tunes and an infectious groove.

He refers to his songs as combining the “youthful joy of the ’50s, the youthful idealism of the ’60s, the space-exploration hangover of the ’70s, the salty crashings of ’80s new wave and the tattered blue jean ethos of ’90s grunge.”

Budda/DeMattio is a self-taught, one-man band on guitar, bass, keyboards and drums.

Budda Holly usually strums his stuff at open mike nights on Mondays at Cheers, 941 E. Cypress Creek Road, Fort Lauderdale; 954-771-6337. He also plays at open mike nights on Tuesdays at Moonshadows, 939 N. Federal Highway, Hollywood; 954-927-6666. Visit myspace.com/postrockalypse.

Zune Marketplace is awesome

March 27th, 2007 by

The greatest thing about the Microsoft Zune is the amount of music you have at your fingertips. With more than 2 million tracks available, Zune represents every genre of music for those who crave diversity. Not only is the large selection of tracks one of the biggest perks, but the most noteworthy part of Zune is its partnership with Billboard. With this partnership you can bring back those memorable songs from the past with six decades worth of songs to choose from.

The benefits do not stop there as Zune not only offers great selection but with Zune, you are able to play music files, display videos and images, and receive FM radio, as well. The Zune also has the capacity to connect wirelessly and via the Xbox 360.

The Zune is an entirely new market for Microsoft has gotten much criticism and does not have the cult following of Apple Computer’s iPod. However, Zune’s biggest competition out there, iTunes, is giving the newcomer a run for its money. iTunes, released in 2001, used primarily for organizing digital music and video files, is a name even the technologically challenged can identity.

When it comes to Zune, many people are still unaware of its existence. The biggest problem for Zune is the lack of exposure it is receiving. If you were to ask your average consumer about Zune, a dumbfounded look is what you might get. Apple’s five year start is partly responsible for its major success. It has had ample time to perfect its technology, yielding maximum performance and profitable sales.

Zune MarketPlace Artist Profile - Thomas Dolby

March 27th, 2007 by admin

Zune.net | Thomas Dolby - Artist Profile Page

For over two decades Thomas Dolby Robertson has combined music and technology to great effect. The advent of MTV brought Dolby his initial exposure in the early 1980’s. His intelligent videos stood out from the pack, and his songs “She Blinded Me with Science” and “Hyperactive” became huge hits that have stood the test of time. His keyboard and production work put him in the studio with the likes of David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Foreigner, Joni Mitchell, and George Clinton. Numerous awards and five Grammy nominations later, Dolby had achieved worldwide recognition as an artist.

Recognizing the opportunities for digital distribution of music via the Internet as early as 1994, Thomas became a spokesman for a generation of musicians eager to change the entrenched business models of the music industry. He was determined to make music a core component of the emerging World Wide Web. His startup company Beatnik wrote the audio layer of Java and created the first interactive music sites on the Web.

Now retired from Beatnik, Dolby is musical director of the annual Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) Conference, and has returned to the stage taking his one-man Sole Inhabitant Tour around the U.S. and Europe. He released a live DVD and CD of the tour on Nov. 14, 2006. Dolby will play the famous SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, in March 2007, while preparing material for his next studio album.

Download the music of Thomas Dolby on Zune Marketplace today. Check his tour dates and watch him live at SXSW.
